GSA New Zealand 2005 - Student Bursaries

The Genetics Society of Australasia is providing financial support for student members to attend the society's annual meeting in 2005 which will be held in conjunction with the International Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution conference in Auckland, New Zealand from the 19th-23rd June. Support will be in the form of a $500 bursary to attend the meeting. There are up to 36 bursaries available and these will be awarded at the discretion of the GSA committee.

To be eligible for this support, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Applicant must be a financial members of the Genetics Society of Australasia (formerly known as the Genetics Society of Australia)
  2. Applicants must be a currently enrolled in an Honours, Masters or PhD degree.
  3. Applicant must present their work at the conference. Both oral and poster presentations are acceptable. The presentation must substantially consist of the student's own work. The contribution of others must be clearly acknowledged.
  4. The GSA Committee will serve as the adjudication panel that awards the bursaries.

The application will consist of the following:

  1. A copy of the abstract submitted to the Local Organizing Secretary for the Conference.
  2. A letter from the applicant's supervisor supporting the application.
  3. Details of any other financial assistance available or sought.

Note that the deadline for abstract submission is 31st March 2005 and bursary application close on Friday the 8th of April.
