Overseas visitors to the GSA

Charalambos Kyriacou, University of Leicester, is known for his work on behavioural and timing genetics in Drosophila, and will talk on the action of period and other clock genes.

Michael Ashburner, Cambridge University, who is in Australia for the conference on biological informatics, sponsored by the Australian Academy of Sciences in Canberra from June 6 - 8, will talk on genomics in Drosophila.

Reinhard Burger, University of Vienna, known for his contributions to various aspects of theoretical population genetics, will talk on the effects of stabilising selection.

Gerhard Moser, University of Hohenheim and currently on sabbatical leave at Sydney University, will talk on the theory of QTL mapping.

We regret that Steve Jones, who was to give a public lecture as well as a GSA talk, has been laid low by an amoebal infection picked up during a field trip to the Middle East, and will be unable to attend. We wish Steve all the best for a speedy recovery.
