This prize is given annually to commemorate the contributions of Spinny Smith-White, who was Professor of Genetics at the University of Sydney from 1963 until 1974, and who died on March 19 of this year.
The prize is generally in the amount of $1,000 to assist in travel to an overseas conference. It is given for a contribution to the GSA conference, usually in the form of a talk although it may be given for a poster. Students who wish to apply for this prize need to send in a short description of their work together with their reasons for wishing to attend the conference. They should also request a supporting letter from their supervisor.
